Highbush Blueberry, Lowbush Blueberry, Rabbiteye Blueberry, Southern Highbush
Requires very acidic soil (pH 4.5–5.5) — test and amend with sulfur before planting. Plant two or more varieties for cross-pollination and larger yields. Mulch 4–6" deep with wood chips or pine bark to maintain acidity and moisture. Prune in late winter, removing oldest canes. Plants reach full production in 5–7 years and can live for decades. Do not rush harvest — berries continue sweetening after they turn blue.
